The girls took Kidnastics (intro to gymnastics) over the winter and put on quite the show for open house night. Hannah was completely crazy....reminded me of Joseph's end of year show at daycare right after he turned 4 and he was putting on a show for everyone. Leah was also pretty excited but was listening a bit better to instructions (you can kind of tell from the balance beam pictures!). They are both moving out of that toddler stage of life and into the world of being a "big kid". Counting to 12, spelling their names, and we are trying to work on recognizing the letters in the alphabet and how to use the computer for learning. Like Joseph they love books, but they also like being told stories (as in "tell me a story about a mermaid and a princess with a big dragon"). Several times Hannah has tried to read a book from memory (like Doctor Ted) and she licks her finger in between pages so that she can turn them (I'm guessing a teacher at school does that!) and she holds up her finger to her lips and says "Shhhhh!" to Leah if she talks while she is reading. Leah has acquired a very large number of stuffed animals and dolls that must go to bed with her at night....in addition to Bear there is also Blue Bunny, Raggity Anne, Violet the Bear and I've seen her try to sneak books, my little ponies, and strawberry shortcake dolls in there too. Both girls love their glow pillow pet animals and have to have them turned on every night in addition to their tinker bell night light and the night light on their clock, and both are still avid thumb suckers. They still adore costumes and dress up but they will also sit with Joseph in his room and play tools and legos when he lets them. Hannah will proudly show you her jumping jacks and push ups and Leah will dance around like a princess or ballerina. Last weekend they were mermaids for one morning, and today they are dying to go to the grocery store with me. Crazy girls!
