Happy Halloween

Oh how this family loves Halloween!  Our neighborhood trick or treat was Saturday night, and we decorated the house up as much as we could to Joseph's liking and then set out for treats with Bubbie and Papa dressed in the costumes of everyone's choice.  Joseph's Halloween parade at school was last Thursday and the girls are dressing up tomorrow at daycare so it turns out we had no actual Halloween festivities on Halloween.  Kind of strange.....so I asked Joseph's teacher if it would be ok if he wore a costume to school today.  Which he did, but it appeared as though he was the only one out of the two kindergarten classes that did so!  But that didn't phase him, he was just happy to be a Ninja for the day and show everyone how he had long underwear on underneath. (Yes, that was the first thing he did in line today.  Pulled up his shirt and pants to show the girl next to him his blue long underwear.  What a kid!)  And I may have been the only one at work today in a bright orange sweater with fuzzy spider earrings, but even Jay decided to switch to an orange button down shirt after I suggested the idea. (ok, so Joseph may get his love for the holiday from me)  The girls said they were going to both be Tinkerbell Princesses with wings tomorrow, but now Leah has settled on Alice and Hannah is going with Cinderella.  We'll see what they say in the morning! (I don't know where the princess and dress obsessions comes from, but I'm pretty sure it's not me or Jay!)

Scary Poses

Most frightening is Hannah's version of a scary face, makes the mummy seem quite normal. :)

Dress Up Fun

Everyone loves dress up, even if it's not Halloween season.  The girls added some new items to their costume collection over their birthday, and have been running around like princesses, fairies, and for one week Hannah walked around as a pirate and Leah requested to be referred to as Alice.  Joseph was a Transformer one afternoon (Bumblebee), still is very into super heroes and running around like Spiderman, but since it is the spooky season is much more into Mummies and all things scary.  I think it is my love for the holiday that has rubbed off on them, though Jay is also a big fan, he just may not be as into celebrating the whole month as I am.  But he does enjoy setting up the effects for trick or treat night and dressing up to hand out candy.  I don't even know what I am going to wear yet....quite unusual for me!  Joseph however decided weeks ago that he would like to wear the same mummy costume as last year, but this time paint his face.  Trick or Treat scenes coming soon!

Look Who's Three!

Leah and Hannah
Leah Rose
Hannah Lu
And look how old they look!  Their favorite things to do are playing dress up, watching strawberry shortcake on television, riding tricycles around outside, and listening to you tell them a princess or mermaid story.  Leah likes to twirl around, sing songs, and bring books to bed with her.  Hannah practices running fast and hopping on one foot, introduces herself as Hannah with an H, and does not like to go to bed (and miss out on any fun!).  Both girls would prefer to wear dresses everyday and need some convincing to wear pants, and while we do mix things up on occasion, three years later you will still find Hannah wearing pink and Leah in purple!

Leah
Height: 38.25 inches (75%)
Weight: 34lbs 10oz (90%)

Hannah
Height: 38.75 inches (90%)
Weight: 36lbs 3oz (90%)

I can't explain how both weights are 90%, didn't realize it until days later!

Conways On Ice

We decided to give ice skating a whirl this fall, and signed everyone up for lessons at the Petit on Sunday evenings (tried to squeeze it in between football games but it seems it takes quite a lot of prep time to get skates on three kids and two adults, and helmet and mitten everyone up).  The girls were always so sad whenever Joseph left for his activities so we thought it would be fun to sign them up for something now that they are in the three year old age range.  And it is fun, though we didn't think so the first 10 minutes or so with two crying little noodles skating around with us (Jay and I are in Parent and Tot skating with the girls, and Joseph is in Hockey Tots on the ice by himself).  By the end of the first lesson Leah could actually skate around slowly by herself, and Hannah wasn't too far off, she just was a bit more hesitant to try.  Both of them seemed more interested in their attire, and licking ice off their mittens.  But we are trying to get them to be more comfortable sliding around and Jay and I went all in and found some used skates for us on ebay and snow pants for extra padding for the kids.   Joseph is having a great time learning how to skate and use a hockey stick, he's had a few falls but it doesn't seem to phase him.  And Jay was amazed at my skills on the ice.  Still getting used to it but I can do a bit of a backward skate.  Yeah, I'm all that and a bag of chips.  Wonder what face Joseph will make when I say that to him in a few years?
