Dinnertime
Joseph started out using a fork to eat his bowl full of pasta last night, and somehow while we weren't watching the pasta went everywhere and the bowl ended up on his head. Joseph's been a bit moody (ok not just a bit, more like totally moody) over the past week, but we assume it is because he has two teeth coming in. He's also fell victim to a few biters at daycare, so I'm sure that hasn't been fun for him either. (though I do think it would be worse to be the parent of the biter.) His favorite things to do still include looking at books, dancing to music, playing outside, and most recently he has also decided that he enjoys walking the dog. I of course hold onto the leash as well, since Rosco tends to walk people as opposed to letting people walk him, but Joseph must hold the end of the leash and the plastic bag. (I'm hoping this is something he still enjoys when he's older.) He's chatting up a storm so with any luck he'll be talking by the holidays. And hopefully his hair will be longer by then....it's a bit too short for my taste. Who knew the kid had that much forehead?

Joseph's Funny Face
With 18 mos right around the corner, Joseph is looking and acting older with every week that goes by (doesn't he look like such a little boy in that second picture?). His latest development is his "sense of humor" which he displays by wrinkling up his nose, squinting his eyes, and doing a fake laugh when he thinks something is funny (actually captured on camera in the first pic!). Not sure about the rest of him, but his feet are definitely bigger. He was wearing a size 5 in sandals this summer and when I took him to get measured for gym shoes he was a size 6 1/4! His feet look huge now as he runs around the house. That's right....runs. Not a full blown track star run, but faster than a walk. Though he doesn't say much that is intelligible, (he has his words like "up", "frog", and "truck"), I think he actually understands most of what we say. Last night I asked him to give Jay a can of olives that I was holding and he took the can out of my hand, walked across the room, and handed the can to his dad. Pretty nice huh? He'll be taking out the trash before you know it!

Football, Football and more Football
Joseph sported his allegiance to his parents favorite teams all weekend, and even as he lies in his crib he is still decorated in Steeler-wear (hope Uncle Timmy was at the game, cuz it was a good one!) We were all going to watch the Bears game at a friends house tonight with a few fellow Illinoisans, but Joseph started melting down an hour ago and went to bed, so I stayed here and Jay went to go "represent". Every time we think Joseph's bedtime has finally pushed past 7pm, the little man puts us back in our place by throwing a fit at 6 o'clock! Oh well, it gives me time to update the blog for all you avid viewers. :)

Enjoying Summer While We Can
We're trying to get in as much fun in the sun as possible before the summer comes to it's inevitable end. These pictures are from the beach a week or two ago (who can keep track), and this past weekend Joseph had fun playing in the sprinkler at our friend's house, in the pool with his cousins, and in our backyard (though that didn't last long so we decided to give Rosco a bath instead). Tonight was Joseph's turn for a bath, so fun in the water continued until he dropped a few floaters and the tub had to be evacuated. If I still had my whistle from back in the life guarding days I would have given three long signals to call in the poop patrol. But alas, there was no whistle and it turns out that I am now considered poop patrol.
